Assist with medical diagnoses by performing tests for physicians and hospitals in a laboratory setting. They may test blood, bodily fluids and tissue samples for the presence of bacteria, viruses or diseases and provide the results to doctors.

Be proficient in handling laboratory samples and correctly enter patient demographics into LIMS and retrieve information from interfaces.  Lab Assistants are also responsible for cleaning and restocking the lab facility, keeping inventory, and ordering lab supplies.

Responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, including the employment of personnel, record and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently, and for assuring compliance with the applicable regulations.

Maintains medical laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.

They are responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks, such as maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms for examination, assisting physicians with exams, and performing front-desk tasks.
